Why are cookies from Eye-Able displayed even though Assist does not set any?
In short: Eye-Able Assist and our other modules do not set any cookies.
However, cookies are set on our website after the cookie banner has been accepted.
These cookies may be displayed—purely for informational purposes—on other websites that have Eye-Able modules integrated. The displayed cookies may appear to be Google Analytics cookies, but they actually come from Matomo.
Possible confusion: Google Analytics vs. Matomo
A common reason for the appearance of so-called “Google Analytics cookies” in connection with Eye-Able is a previous visit to our website [eye-able.com], during which cookies were accepted via the cookie banner.
Important: The displayed cookies are not Google Analytics cookies, but Matomo cookies from our own Matomo instance.
Although they have the same names, they are not provided by Google, but are processed locally on our servers.
Subdomain context: Why cookies appear on your page
Since our servers for Assist and other modules operate through a subdomain (e.g., for Assist: cdn.eye-able.com
), and the cookie configuration is set for the entire domain (including subdomains) on .eye-able.com
, these cookies may also appear in the browser when visiting your website—even though they were not set by your page.
These cookies were only set and processed on our website, but due to the subdomain structure, they may also be visible in the browser on other pages with the same domain base (e.g., report.eye-able.com
).
No cookies set by Eye-Able Assist
Also important to note:
The Eye-Able® Assist website plugin does not set any cookies at any time.
Instead, it exclusively uses SessionStorage and LocalStorage for temporary data processing.
This means: Users of your website do not receive any cookies from Eye-Able Assist.
Solution: Delete cookies and reload the page
If you want the previously accepted Matomo cookies to be removed from the browser and no longer be displayed, please delete the cookies in your browser and reload the page.
Afterward, no such entries should be visible.
For testing, you can also use your browser’s incognito mode.
