Product Overview Eye-Able Plain Language
What is Eye-Able Plain Language?
Eye-Able Plain Language is a module that enables complex texts to be automatically converted, in real time, into a simpler and therefore more understandable form.
The following guidelines are applied:-
Short sentences, with main and subordinate clauses clearly separated
-
Avoidance of foreign words, technical terms, proverbs and abbreviations
-
Active voice rather than the passive voice
-
Addressing the reader directly
-
Examples and simple explanations for difficult terms
Simple Language is therefore based on the same principles as Easy Language. You can find out more about how and why a distinction is made between Simple Language and Easy Language in the following article:

Features
Eye-Able Plain Language offers two ways of using the service:
1. Website module:
Entire websites or text elements can be automatically converted into plain language directly on the website. This requires the integration of the Plain Language website module. The Plain Language button generated by integrating the module allows website visitors to view the displayed text in plain language at the touch of a button, if required.
The texts generated in this way can be managed and edited manually at any time in the Eye-Able Dashboard.
Further information on the functions of the Plain Language module can be found in the following articles:

2. Dashboard module:
The Dashboard module offers two functions: Simplify text and Simplify document. AI credits are required to use both functions.
In the “Simplify Text” sub-menu, text can be pasted directly into the input field and simplified using AI. After clicking the “Simplify Text” button, the simplified text is automatically loaded into the output field. As well as being able to view the readability scores of both texts directly, additional text statistics for further analysis can be found further down the page.
Under ‘Simplify Document’, documents in .txt file format can be uploaded and automatically simplified. Once the upload is complete, a new .txt file is created containing the text of the original document in simplified form. This automatically generated file is available for download in the table below as soon as it has been created.
Installation and Integration | Website Module
Integrating Eye-Able Plain Language into your own website takes just a few steps.
To do this, insert the following script into the header section of your website:<script async src="https://translate-cdn.eye-able.com/eye-able-translate.js"></script>
Detailed installation instructions can be found in the following article:

Important: If the Eye-Able Translate translation module is also being used, the script should only be included once. Both modules use the same script.
Customisation options and configuration | Website module
Using the Plain Language Configurator in the Eye-Able dashboard, you can customise not only the general design but also, amongst other things, the position, colour and border of the Plain Language module’s default icon.

Furthermore, you can create a custom button for the Plain Language feature, allowing you to fully adapt the button to your website’s design and, if desired, embed it directly into the page navigation.

Editing texts | Website module
Once the module has been successfully integrated and users have viewed their first texts in plain language on the website, you can manually edit the automatically generated, simplified texts in the dashboard.
This allows you to adapt the texts to the desired tone and style, if required.

Further information on this can be found in the following article:
Technical Basis
The simplification provided by Eye-Able Plain Language is based on AI models run via the Microsoft Azure platform. Access is via API requests from our own API modules. The most suitable model is always used, for example GPT-5 or GPT-5o. These have been trained to analyse and simplify texts without altering their meaning. Care is taken to ensure the language used is clear and simple.

Data Protection
Data protection is a top priority at Eye-Able. You can find out more about this in our dashboard under ‘Plain Language – Data Protection’.
When using the Plain Language module, text is processed using Azure AI models without any personal data being stored or shared.
