What reason should I give in the accessibility generator for an error if I am unsure?
Recommendation for selecting the reason for missing accessibility in the generator
If you are unsure which reason to select for missing accessibility in the generator, we recommend using the default reason ‘Incompatibility with existing guidelines’.
The default reason is ‘Incompatibility with existing guidelines’. This selection is appropriate in most cases and is the recommended standard.
What does this mean in concrete terms?
With this selection, you are simply saying: ‘Part of our offering does not comply with the applicable accessibility guidelines – therefore, there is an accessibility error here.’
Example wording:
‘We have accessibility errors X on our site because this part is not compatible with the existing guidelines.’
What about the other reasons?
The other options in the generator (e.g. ‘Disproportionate burden’, ‘Exception according to law’) only apply in exceptional cases and should be used with particular caution.
They apply, for example, to legally justified exceptions or economically unreasonable effort – which is rather rare in practice.
