How is the influence of individual errors weighted in Eye-Able® Report?

The Eye-Able® Report accessibility assessment provides you with an overview of the current progress of your website. The assessment refers to the currently selected target compliance, e.g. WCAG Level AA.

Scoring and Error Assessment

All pages examined are taken into account when calculating the score. As soon as one of the pages violates one of the Eye-Able® rules, the overall rating of the domain decreases. The more subpages have an error and the more frequently an error occurs, the more points are deducted. With each error corrected, the score slowly improves. The greatest gain in points is achieved after a fault has been completely corrected across the entire website.

Critical faults such as missing alternative texts are weighted more heavily than, for example, warnings. To calculate the total score, all weights of the faults within the current compliance level are taken into account and compared with the uncorrected faults.

In addition, a logarithmic scaling is used. This means that the closer you get to 100%, the more points are awarded for the corrected errors.

User Feedback and Practical Impact

However, the influence of individual errors in the Eye-Able® Report is not weighted solely on the basis of WCAG criteria (Web Content Accessibility Guidelines). Instead, experiences and feedback from affected parties are also taken into account. This feedback comes from institutions such as the Blindeninstitut Würzburg (Würzburg Institute for the Blind). This collaboration ensures that the error assessment is practical and in the interests of users, thereby improving accessibility on the web.
