Does the content of videos have to be provided as a text summary?

Yes. According to WCAG 1.2.1, an alternative must always be available for videos.

This alternative can be implemented in two ways:

  • An audio track that adequately describes the content of the video

    or
  • A text alternative via a transcription.

Implementation in terms of accessibility is therefore desirable – even independently of the minimum legal requirements.
