Within your organisation, access to licences can be granted in two ways:
- through direct assignment to individual users
- through team membership in the Team settings
The additive principle applies here. This means: all rights that have been granted are combined.
How the additive principle works
A user can receive rights from both sources:
- from the User settings
- from the Team settings
There is no hierarchy and no fixed order between these sources.
Both sources count equally. The rights that have been granted do not override one another, but are combined.
The highest right applies
If different rights are granted across several sources, the highest right granted always applies.
This means:
- If you have access to a product through one source, you have access to that product.
- If one source has no access entered, it does not thereby remove access granted from another source.
- If you have read rights through one source and write rights through another source, you have write rights overall.
Rights are not overridden
One source cannot restrict or remove rights that have been granted through another source.
This means:
- Team rights do not override User rights
- User rights do not override Team rights
What is decisive is always the highest right granted through any one of the sources.
